Poppy Appeal

We have many items from the Royal British Legion to sell in aid of the Poppy Appeal.

We have bracelets, rubbers, rulers, pencils, snap bands, pencil sharpeners and stick on poppies.

We do not have any traditional Poppies due to the need for pins.

Please see the picture if you wish to see what is on offer and any donations to the appeal would be greatly appreciated; please send any money in a sealed envelope to the school office.

If you would like anything specific to be sent home please let us know by emailing reception@ashlea.notts.sch.uk or put a note in with your donation.

Parent Governor Vacancy (CLOSED)

CLOSED

Dear parents/carers

We have an opening for a Parent Governor within out governing body team.

We have a small governing body which is an essential part of our school. The role of the governing body is absolutely key to the effectiveness of a school.

School governors are part of the largest volunteer force in the country, making a positive contribution to children’s education and playing an important part in raising school standards. School Governors provide strategic leadership, ensure accountability and act as a critical friend.

As a governor, you will have the opportunity meet new people, be part of a team, learn new skills through induction, ongoing training and attending meetings and have a positive impact on teaching and learning in school.

There are two full meetings per term (six in a school year) held after school and last approximately two hours, 17.30 – 19.30.

You really don’t need any experience to take on this role, just a positive attitude and a willingness to take on a new challenge.

Race For Life 2018

Congratulations to everyone at Ash Lea School including family and friends for the amazing Race for Life event which took place on Wednesday 19th September. All pupils enjoyed running, walking and wheeling around the Candleby Lane field to collect their Race for Life medal.
It was an amazing event where everyone was working together and cheering each other on.

We now have the total raised £832 which is incredible. Well done everyone.

Thank You to the Lord’s Taverners for our Amazing Bus

The Lord’s Taverners provides a range of specially adapted minibuses for SEN Schools catering for young people with learning and physical disabilities.

In 2017 we put in a request for a mini bus for Ash Lea School, this would enable us to take the children out more regularly and access different areas of the community. The bus has been used to take children horse-riding, fishing and to South Nott’s Academy where the older children have been using the facilities to learn how to cook for themselves.

On 13th June, Mrs Wigley, Mrs Biddles and Ms Brown went to London and attended a presentation afternoon when we were handed the keys to the new Lord Taverners bus.

Official Opening

Thank you to Nottinghamshire County Council Chairman Sue Saddington for conducting the official opening of Ash Lea School’s new building.

We had many of guests arrive who have helped use over the past 18 months. We are very grateful to all those who have put their time and hard work into making the school building what it is today.

Parent/Carer Night Out

Date: Saturday 30th June 2018
Time: 8.00pm
Address: Brewhouse & Kitchen, Trent Bridge West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 2GS

The majority of pupils at Ash Lea arrive and leave by local authority organised transport. This makes it difficult for us parents to meet at the gates and socialise, so each year FOALS tries to facilitate this by organising a few parent and carer nights out. This is an evening to get together and chat over dinner and a drink or two. Everyone is welcome, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone. The purpose of these nights is so that you can meet others in similar situations to yourselves and make friends.

The cost of the night will depend upon what you order. You can view the menus on their website:
http://www.brewhouseandkitchen.com/venue/nottingham/

At the very latest the reply slip must be returned to us by Wednesday 20th June.
