We have established a cycle of themes that covers six years. At our curriculum’s core is ‘What our pupils need to learn’. This thematic learning is the means of delivering this. This is the ‘provision’ and means through which IEPs are worked on. Our topics and coverage maps ensure there is breadth of learning and experiences throughout pupils’ time at school. The choice of topics is designed to incorporate this variation in experiences and learning, whilst ensuring that it is developmentally appropriate. At varying points and to varying degrees, some pupils will be learning through these topics, and some will be learning about the topics.
