New Year Lockdown – Home Learning Timetable

Week Commencing 1st March 2021

Week 7  – Our theme is:-

This week, we are exploring the world of Peppa Pig. You will receive a pack of home learning to support our sessions. It is optional to join the daily Zoom sessions, but it means that we can share our learning together. Please remember to work on your child’s IEP targets where possible and help us by collecting any evidence that is relevant to these targets. We can also work on these in the individual Zoom sessions with their named Learning support worker.

Monday is show and tell Zoom – please bring something to share with the rest of the class, and our cooking demonstration: This week, we will be making fast food!!!! We will be making burgers and fries. Again, we will be looking at presentation and how we can make our food look like a takeaway! An ingredients list and suggested instructions will be in your pack.

Tuesday is Discovery and we will be meeting all the characters from the show and their families. We will answer questions about the characters on the show, and make a profile of our own new character.

Wednesday is Art and in school we will be making masks for our new character – you can use the template in your pack to colour or cut and stick bits on to become part of the Willow class animal family!

Thursday is Maths and we will be continuing to look at time, focusing on counting in 5’s and reading the time on the clock. We will be continuing with our story from last week looking at reading and understanding key times of the day.

Friday is Music and we will be using household objects to play along with “El tren”. You will need some newspaper, tin foil and a bottle.

Week Commencing 22nd February 2021

Week 6  – Our theme is:-

When we come back after the half term break, we will be exploring the world of Harry Potter. You will receive a pack of home learning to support our sessions – this will come out on Monday 22nd and so the information for the show and tell and cookery session for that day will be sent out via e-mail. It is entirely optional to join the daily Zoom sessions, but it means that we can share our learning together. Please remember to work on your child’s IEP targets where possible and help us by collecting any evidence that is relevant to these targets. We can also work on these in the individual Zoom sessions with their named Learning support worker.

Monday is show and tell Zoom – please bring something to share with the rest of the class, and our cooking demonstration: This week, we will be making ice cream sundaes!!!! We will be choosing ice cream flavours and our favourite toppings. We will also be experimenting with making our Sundaes look too good to eat! An ingredients list and suggested instructions will be in your pack.

Tuesday is Discovery and we will be visiting Diagon Alley and making our own wands! We will follow instructions to make the wands, and then we will be rating them and looking to see if we could improve on our designs.

Wednesday is Art and in school we will be attempting wax scratch pictures – these need some preparation in advance so we will send an alternative activity out for home learners. But you are welcome to join us to get creative together on the Zoom session.

Thursday is Maths and we will be continuing to look at time, focusing on the names of time intervals: seconds, minutes, hours, days and which we would use to measure the length of an activity.

Friday is Music and we will be attempting to use a glass of water to make music! We will play along to the theme music from Harry Potter.

Week 5 – Our theme is:-

We will be exploring the world of Paddington Bear. You will receive a pack of home learning to support our sessions. It is entirely optional to join the daily Zoom sessions, but it means that we can share our learning together. Please remember to work on your child’s IEP targets where possible and help us by collecting any evidence that is relevant to these targets. We can also work on these in the individual Zoom sessions with their named Learning support worker.

This week we are also doing some themed work around the Chinese New Year through our Arts team and this will culminate in the telling of the story of how the animals came to represent the years, some dragon dancing, Chinese art and some food tasting.

Monday is show and tell Zoom – please bring something to share with the rest of the class, and our cooking demonstration: This week, we will be making café food!!!! We will be making hot chocolate to drink, with a range of toppings. We will also be trying to flip some pancakes. An ingredients list and suggested instructions will be in your pack.

Tuesday is Discovery and we will be helping Paddington make marmalade sandwiches! We will explore sandwich fillings, taste them and express our likes and dislikes.

Wednesday is Art and we will be making mini Paddington Bears, using a selection of materials.

Thursday is Maths and we will be continuing to look at clocks, reading o’clock and half past, and counting around the clock in 5 minute intervals.

Friday is Music and we will be using balloons and matchboxes to make music. Our song will be Katy Perry’s Firework.

Week 4 – Our theme is:-

It’s Children’s Mental Health week and we will be celebrating by dressing to “Express ourselves” on Friday. We will take part in a dance workshop with Helen Anker from the touring cast of Mamma Mia, as well as sharing how we express ourselves across the school in a whole school assembly.

You will receive a pack of home learning to support our sessions. It is entirely optional to join the daily Zoom sessions, but it means that we can share our learning together. Please remember to work on your child’s IEP targets where possible and help us by collecting any evidence that is relevant to these targets. We can also work on these in the individual Zoom sessions with their named Learning support worker.

Monday is show and tell Zoom – please bring something to share with the rest of the class, and our cooking demonstration: This week, we will be making pizza!!!! You can be adventurous as you like – you can make a base or you can use a pre-made one and add toppings of your choice. An ingredients list and suggested instructions will be in your pack.

Tuesday is Discovery and we will be looking at asking for help. We will look at some different scenarios where we need help, who to ask and what we could say.

Wednesday is Art and we will be making a poster to encourage others to be kind. We will be using lettering on a bright background.

Thursday is Maths and we will be looking at clocks, key times of the day and starting to read o’clock.

Friday is Music and we will be looking at some of our favourite theme tunes.

Monday is show and tell Zoom – please bring something to share with the rest of the class, and our cooking demonstration: We will be slicing BBQ chicken and Quorn pieces, and adding them to a homemade healthy salad!!!! An ingredients list and instructions will be in your pack.

Tuesday is Discovery and we will be getting creative and making a vegetable garden for Peter Rabbit to explore!

Wednesday is Art and we will be making a rabbit models using our handprint.

Thursday is Maths and we will be looking at months of the year and the seasons.

Friday is Music and we will be making our own guitars and playing along to Ed Sheeran’s Thinking out loud.

Week Commencing 11th Jan 2021

You have received a pack of home learning to support our sessions next week. It is entirely optional to join the daily Zoom sessions, but it means that we can share our learning together.

Those pupils at home have been assigned a named learning support from the class team to provide a more personalised approach to their learning. They will offer an individual Zoom with the pupil to work on specific skills / individual education plan targets and to support in areas of greatest need. They will be in touch at the beginning of the week to set up the sessions.

The National Academy have some pre-pared video lessons that are good.

They are subject specific for mainstream and they also have a specialist section which is more suited to our teaching style.

This is Lee English who runs our weekly PE sessions in class – he is running sessions for anyone who wants them, via Zoom or via Facebook. He will also run some Ash Lea specific sessions from next week.

This week’s theme is… Parks and Gardens

In school we are looking at the story of Fantastic Mr Fox and thinking about having a picnic. Our weekly challenge is to Make a picnic that you can share with your family at home in the garden or take to the park! Don’t forget to take a picture and send it in!

Can you share a number between 2 people? This is called halving. Start with a number: 6, and divide between 2 people: 6 shared by 2 is 3…

Physical Exercise

After all that thinking about food – we had better do some exercise:

I like to choose different exercises to try – so I will do a circuit.

I might run around the garden 3 times, jump in the air 10 times and then roll on the grass for 5 minutes. Have a little rest then do it all again. Can you try and do a circuit at home with your family?

This week’s theme is… My friends and family

In school we are looking at keeping in touch. Our weekly challenge is to write a letter or make a card for someone you haven’t seen in while, I’m sure they would love to get something from you through the letterbox!

In school everyone is looking at self portraits and being creative in our art, using things from around the house to make up pictures. We will also be looking at our emotions and how we express these.


Maths task

Can you count your fingers and toes? How many can you count? Can you count everybody’s fingers and toes in your family? I counted 50 in my house!!!!!

How many numbers can you write? Send me a photo of the highest number that you get up to….

In school everyone is going water-y and the weather might let us have some outdoor fun this week

Our group in school will be looking at the Splash Landings Hotel, at Alton Towers.

Maths task

Have a go at counting to 20. Can you go any further? Can you write the numbers down – either on paper, on the pavement with chalk or on the computer? Let me know what number you get to….

We are looking at sharing: make equal groups with objects – the same number in each group – you can do this around the house, with things like Lego, pennies, sweets… Don’t forget to take a photo for me!

Physical task

Dress up in sporty clothes. Make up and try a circuit – for example: jump through a hoop, roll along the carpet, crawl across the sofa, bounce on the spot 10 times, catch a ball, run around the garden 3 times, bend down and try to touch your toes.
